Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Mahavidyalaya , Amravati was established in 1972 by Hon’ble Late Shri. Dadasaheb Gawai, member of Rajya Sabha and Ex-Governer ( Kerala & Bihar States). It is a Grant-in-aid college, affiliated to SGBAU Amravati. It was recognized by UGC in 1994 under 2(f) and 12 (B) of the UGC Act 1956. It has been serving the educational needs of people living in Amravati and its adjoining areas, especially of those who come from the Under Priveledged sections of the Society.

Shri Dadasaheb Gawai Charitable Trust with high aim decided to establish a college in Amravati city. The college conducts B.A, B.Com, and M.Com. , M.A. ,Ph.D. Programs,Certificate / Diploma Courses , Skill development Courses & Distance Education Mode Courses. It has its own specious infrastructure includes Building, Library, Reading room,Conference hall,OBS Center,Gym and Indoor-Outdoor games facilities,Swimming Pool.It always follow the motto of Hon’ble Shri. Dadasaheb Gawai, “Education Through Self Help“.
